CHANTONNAY - LA CHATRE 256km
10th July 1997

GAN Glory!

A superb day for GAN, saw frenchman Cedric Vasseur, braking away from the bunch,
and surviving a 147km lone attack to win the stage and take the yellow jersey from
Saeco and Mario Cipollini. He finished two and a half minutes infront of a chasing
group of about 12 riders, led in by none other than GAN man Stuart O'Grady to make
a fantastic one two on the stage.

Vasseur described the occasion..."It's a dream, the best day of my life."

Chris had an easy day in the pack as they played their trump card with Vasseur at
one point 16 minutes ahead. Chris slipped to 4th overall, but as he said,
"The pressure is off the team.", with a stage win and two yellow jersey wins so far!
